Priscilla Presley is 73.  Elvis’s ex-wife and Lisa Marie’s mother.  She’s Jane Spencer in “The Naked Gun”“The Naked Gun 2-and-a-Half”, and “The Naked Gun 33-and-a-Third”.

It Happened On This Day In Country Music History

1955 Happy Birthday Rosanne Cash born on this day in Memphis, Tennessee.  The eldest daughter of country music icon Johnny Cash and his first wife, Vivian Liberto Cash Distin. She won a Grammy in 1985 for “I Don’t Know Why You Don’t Want Me”, and has received twelve other Grammy nominations. She has had 11 #1 country hit singles, 21 Top 40 country singles and two gold records.

1988 Happy Birthday Billy Gilman born on this day in Westerly, Rhode Island. In 2000, at the age of 11, he debuted with the single “One Voice,” a Top 20 hit on the Billboardcountry music charts and became the youngest singer to score a Top 20 hit on the country music charts. He was also given an entry into the Guinness Book of World Records for being the youngest singer to reach #1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. In 2016 Billy Gilman finished runner up on season 11 of “The Voice”

2005 Oklahoma born Carrie Underwood became the fourth-season winner of American Idol.Although her first single, “Inside Your Heaven,” topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the 22-year-old Underwood’s influences and music are predominantly country. Late in the year, she entered the top 10 of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for the first time with “Jesus Take the Wheel. And the rest they say is country music history.

2011 Jason Aldean was at #1 on the country chart with My Kinda Party, his fourth studio album. The album received a Nomination for the 54th Grammy Awards for Best Country Album and has sold over 3m copies in the US.

Country Music Fun Fact

During the early 1980s, Randy Travis was rejected by every major record label in Nashville. His early demo tapes were criticized by record executives as being “too country.”
