1971 Born on this day in Columbus, Ohio, was Jay DeMarcus, bass guitarist, harmony vocalist, pianist and songwriter with the American country trio Rascal Flatts who have scored 11 US Country #1’s.
1984 Johnny Lee and Lane Brody were at #1 on the US Country charts with, “The Yellow Rose”.
2013 During an episode of NBC’s The Celebrity Apprentice, Clint Black won $20,000 for charity as the project manager for developing a four-page advertorial for Right Guard.
2013 US country singer George Jones, who had a string of #1 songs between the 1950s and 1990s, died aged 81. Nicknamed ‘Possum’, his signature song was “He Stopped Loving Her Today”.

Marty Stuart has a vast collection of country music memorabilia, which is one of the biggest in country music. It has been featured at the Tennessee State Museum, and The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and pieces are regularly loaned to the Country Music Hall of Fame for exhibits.
