NATIONAL FROZEN YOGURT DAY | NATIONAL LAME DUCK DAY (more information available at national day) On this day in 1911 Ronald Reagan, film actor and our 40th U.S. President was born.  He passed away June 4th 2004.  Tom Brokaw, NBC News anchorman was born on this day in 1940. and  reggae musician Bob Marley, was born in 1945.

It Happened On This Day In Country Music History

1962 Happy Birthday Richie McDonald  born on this day in Lubbock, Texas. He becomes the lead singer of Lonestar, with 1990s, hits including “No News,“I’m Already There” and the pop crossover ballad “Amazed”

1971 Dolly Parton scores her first #1 single in Billboard with “Joshua”

2012 EMI releases Eric Church’s “Springsteen” to country radio. Referenced in the lyrics: “I’m On Fire,” “Born To Run,” “Glory Days” and “Born In The U.S.A.”.  “Springsteen” went #1 and went Platinum two times over.

2016 Merle Haggard.  Days after cancelling all his February shows, Merle Haggard plays a concert in Las Vegas, struggling through six songs before giving the stage to Toby Keith. The last performance of Merle Haggard’s life was played at Paramount Theater Oakland on February 13th 2016.  He played “Okie from Muskogee.  Merle Haggard was born on April 6th 1937 and passed away April 6th 2016.
