1971 Sammi Smith goes to #1 in Billboard with the Kris Kristofferson-penned “Help Me Make It Through The Night”

1988 Rosanne Cash earns a #1 single in Billboard with a remake of the Johnny Cash song “Tennessee Flat Top Box”

2002 Waylon Jennings passes away at his home in Arizona, following a lengthy battle with diabetes. Branded as The Outlaw with numerous top ten and number one’s including “Luckenback Texas”  

 2008  Carrie Underwood earns gold singles for both “Wasted” and “So Small”  .Gold signifying sales of 500’000.
