Today is National Shop For Travel Day, National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, National Static Electricity Day, and National Apricot Day.  (more information available at national day) It was on this day in 2007 that Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, unveils the first iPhone.  Richard Nixon, our 37th President of the U.S. and first President to resign from office was born on this day in 1913.  Happy Birthday Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (Catherine Elizabeth “Kate” Middleton) Born in 1982 and wife of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge. Upon William’s assumption of the British throne, the Duchess would become queen consort.

1951 Brenda Gayle Webb, Loretta Lynn’s youngest sister, is born in Paintsville, Kentucky. She adopts the stage name Crystal Gayle, best known for  “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue.” 

1961 ‘s Johnny Horton’sNorth To Alaska” goes to #1 on the Billboard country singles charts.

1990 Willie Nelson’s album “Stardust” is certified quadruple-platinum.  The album includes “Georgia On My Mind”Blue Sky’s” and “All Of Me”

2000 Shania Twain takes the People’s Choice award for Favorite Female Musical Performer

2012 Blake Shelton nets gold and platinum singles for “God Gave Me You”
