1955  Happy Birthday Singer/songwriter Steve Earle born on this day in Fort Monroe, Virginia. Best known for reaching #7 on the charts in  1986 with “Guitar Town” 

1971 Happy Birthday Bob Ritchie, better known as rap-rocker    Kid Rock, born on this day in Dearborn, Michigan. He collects a country hit with “All Summer Long” and earns country awards nominations for his duet with Sheryl Crow, “Picture”

1981 Eddie Rabbitt’s “I Love A Rainy Night” hits #1 on the Billboard country singles chart.

1982 Happy Birthday Amanda Wilkinson born on this day in Belleville, Ontario. With father Steve brother  Tyler they form The Wilkinsons, best known for 1998 #1 single “26 Cents”

1998 Tim McGraw begins a six-week residency at #1 on the Billboard country chart with “Just To See You Smile”

2000 Norm McDonald presents the Artist of the Decade to Garth Brooks for the ’90s during the American Music Awards at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium. He also wins trophies for Favorite Male Country Artist and Favorite Country Album.

2006 Sugarland posts a message on its website announcing Kristen Hall is leaving the trio to concentrate on songwriting.
