The Oscars Were Insane This Year

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 20 hours, you’ve probably seen the news about the 2017 Oscars. Here are some of the best and craziest things that happened on Sunday night.

5. Candy Parachutes

Jimmy Kimmel who was hosting this years Oscars decided to treat everyone with some candy, specifically candy in a parachute. The cameras show many A-list celebrities jumping up to quickly grab one of the many parachutes falling to them below.

4. Brie Larson Refuses to Clap for Casey Affleck

Casey Affleck won best actor award for his performance in Manchester By the Sea, but not everyone was happy about it. Brie Larson, who presented the award, awkwardly stood on the side and didn’t applaud the actor. Brie Larson has been a major activist when it comes to sexual abuse and their victims and Casey Affleck has had his fair share of history with sexual assault allegations.

3. Jimmy Kimmel vs. Matt Damon

Jimmy Kimmel has has a long standing feud with actor Matt Damon since the actor allegedly slept with Kimmel’s ex girlfriend, Sara Silverman back in 2008. Since Kimmel was hosting this years Oscars, he made sure to keep the feud alive by “playing” Matt Damon off stage, even though he was just presenting an award. At one point, Damon even tried to trip Kimmel during one of his bits.

2. Viola Davis Speech

Viola Davis is known for giving some extremely powerful and moving speeches whenever she wins an award for her amazing acting, and this year at the Oscars she did not disappoint. She showed passion, power, and inspiration with her speech, especially with her most trending line “I became an artist, and thank god I did, because we are the only profession that celebrates what it means to live a life.”

1. La La Land Moonlight Won Best Picture

The most trending and jaw dropping thing that happened at the Oscars this year was when Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty were given the wrong card and accidentally announced La La Land as the winner of best picture, when in fact Moonlight won. No gif can do the moment justice, you have to watch the entire awkward moment in video.
