Flyin or Dyin? George Strait “Let it Go”

George Strait may be finished with touring, but he’s not finished with country music. The singer has released a new song, “Let It Go” (no relation to the Disney phenomenon), and it’s equal parts inspirational and mellow.

“Let It Go” was written by Strait, his son Bubba and Keith Gattis, and it’s more Kenny Chesney-esque than anything we’ve ever heard from the singer. With a ukulele, steel drum, fiddle and steel guitar hanging out in the background, Strait’s new single could almost qualify as a beach song. Plus, it has a relaxed and “hakuna matata” vibe to boot.

Time flies while you save it all up / But someday, this’ll all be dust / It’s all just stuff / It ain’t ever enough / And you can’t take it with you,” Strait croons, “so you might as well just / Let it go / Yeah, you really oughta let it go / Let it all wash on under the bridge / Blow it a kiss / Give it a rest ‘cause it is what it is.”

“Let It Go” is Strait’s first single of 2015. He didn’t release any new music in 2014, while he was concluding his final tour, which ended on June 7. However, fans can expect much more music from the singer, as he signed a five-album deal with longtime label MCA in 2013.
