Can you believe it’s been 11 years since Chris passed away? It hit us today when we realized it was March 9th, and Chris succumed to liver cancer in 2005, he was only 56. He was a huge favorite here in Utah – everyone loved his good manners with fans and how much he liked to interact with them in an age where most stars hid in their trailers. LeDoux had already written and released TWENTY-TWO albums on his own record label before signing with Capitol Records.

Garth Brooks loved performing with Chris, he used to brag that he modeled his shows after the high voltage performances LeDoux always gave. When they performed “Whatcha Gonna Do With A Cowboy,” the crowd lost it. Completely.

You have to love a guy though, who never lets himself forget everyone who helped him. Chris reluctantly came to Nashville to accept a huge award from his record label for selling nearly 6 million albums, and he said this: “I couldn’t have done this without the help of a lot of people. They gently nudged this lazy old cowboy along to get out there and do this for a living. If it weren’t for them, I’d be singing to the sheep and the cows still.” Thank you for the music, brother…
