November is National Diabetes Awareness Month

November is National diabetes awareness month – we have decided to put together some facts and early warning signs so that you can stay on top of your health! Approximately 1 out of every 11 Americans live with diabetes and it is the seventh leading cause of death in the U.S.

Type 1 diabetes

Often develops in youth and is caused by a shortage of insulin in the body. Diet and regular exercise along with insulin shots can help regulate this.

Type 2 diabetes

This is the most common form of diabetes and affects people of all ages, but is mostly found in adults and overweight people. A strict diet and regular physical activity is recommended to regulate type 2 diabetes.

Roughly 86 million Americans have high glucose levels, but not high enough to be defined as diabetes. These 86 million have what is known as pre-diabetes, HYPO or HYPER glycemia
